SUMMARY AND OUTCOME The Climate Smart San José plan1 (Climate Smart) identified solid waste as a topic for future consideration that could be incorporated into updates of the Climate Smart plan. The waste reduction and diversion goals in the Zero Waste Element (ZWE) will help the City move towards its goal of carbon neutrality by 2030 and also serves as an update to the 2008 Zero Waste Strategic Plan.
