BACKGROUND On November 2014, voters in the City of San Jose passed Measure G, amending the powers and duties of the Salary Setting Commission to include making biennial recommendations to the City Council regarding the monthly stipend for a non-City employee member of the retirement board or boards which administer the retirement plan or plans. On April 20, 2017, the Commission unanimously adopted the recommendation of a $25 per month increase from $225 to $250 (11 %) in the stipend per board meeting for non-City employee member of the Retirement Boards. On June 27, 2017, the City Council adopted the Salary Setting Commission’s recommendation to increase the Retirement Board stipend from $225 to $250 per meeting. At the meeting of February 20, 2019, the Salary Setting considered raising the stipend from $250 to $260, but no action was taken. Toni J.
